Focus of the Report
The overall purpose of this report is to provide insights on the mobile apps end-market for Tunisian IT firms to effectively export their
products and services to the UK market. The report focuses primarily on mobile apps. This has been identified as a key opportunity following two 3-day visits from OCO’s IT Expert to Tunisia*.
The report looks at opportunities in B2C mobile apps, as well as B2B mobile apps.
In addition, the report also provides a short appendix overview of the UK market trends and opportunities in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). It also provides recommendations on how Tunisia firms can position themselves in the UK BPO market, in the next 12 months.
The main reasons why mobile apps is the focus of this report, and not BPO, can be summarised as follows:
o Development of the BPO sector would require further planning (e.g. training in English), whereas supporting mobile apps can result in quicker wins on the UK market.
o Existence of already well developed businesses operating in the area of mobile apps compared to BPO.
o Furthermore, services around mobile services require low capital investment, but significant IT skills. Support from Cepex and TBCC in mobile apps will therefore interest a broader number of people than solely BPO.
o Finally, the weak level of English skills in Tunisia is less of an issue (but still important) in mobile apps than in BPO.
