On the sidelines of the visit to the state of Sfax of an Omani delegation composed of 12 members from the public and private sector, an Omani-Tunisian business forum was held on Monday December 6 2021, under the presidency of Mr. Ridha fourati, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax, and of Mr. Ameur Mubark Ali Alhajri, President of the PME Omani Commission and member of the board of directors of the CCI of Oman as well as with the participation of several business leaders and Tunisian and Omani institutions.

The Omani delegation was composed of businesses operating in different sectors:

On their arrival, the president of the CCIS convened his Omani guests to a breakfast with the permanent members of the Chamber, permitting to discuss possible partnerships.

During the forum, the present Tunisian and Omani businessmen examined opportunities for cooperation and exchange that could open between the two in different sectors of activities, knowing that the Omani members of delegation represent businesses operating in the BTP, Tourism, agro-food, textile and diverse industries.

Apart from the B2B exchange, the Forum was marked by the announcement of the two presidents of the organization of the event “Made in Tunisia” in Oman in 2022.

Since the visit falls into the frame of search for Tunisian partners and sharing of experience, the president of the delegation hoped to meet businesses from diverse promising sectors for the development of economic relations between the Tunisian and Omani businesses such as, textile, construction and food industry. Therefore company visits have been scheduled with regional businesses on December 7, 2021.

At the end of B to B session, a dinner debate with members of the Chambers and economic operators completed the day’s program.

Mr. Ameur Hajri reiterated during this dinner- debate the availability of the CCI of Oman to forge links with Tunisian investors, according to him, the commercial exchanges between the two countries remain modest to this day and can only increase through the development of a strategy for promoting Tunisian products among Omanis, but also on the large scale of economical opportunities offered by Tunisia and the Sultanate which could be subject to partnership agreements and business contracts between the Tunisian-Omani business community.

The second day started by welcoming members of delegation to the CCIS, Mrs. Ikram Makni, General Director of the Chamber took advantage of this visit to present the different activities of the Chamber.

Aside from, promoting the CCIS activities, cooperation for future actions in the Sultanate and Tunisia, was discussed with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman for business connection between Tunisians and their Omani counterparts.

At the end of the meeting, two companies’ visits completed the day of the delegation in Sfax. The first company visited was the Younga Fish Company which operates in the transformation and conservation of sea food products sector and more precisely in the exportation of crabs, while the second company “SOLATRA” is specialized in the textile and more precisely in traditional outfits.

Thanks to these visits, the Omani delegation was able to discuss with company representatives and deepen its discovery of the industrial fabric of the region of Sfax.

After these business visits, the members of the Omani delegation expressed their satisfaction for the program organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax in the region and their acknowledgement for the warm welcome that was demonstrated throughout the meeting.
