The economic fabric of the region is very developed, there are the main economic sectors, namely agriculture, industry and tourism.Sfax is a large industrial pole, (the second after the Tunis region) which continues to develop.Exports from the Sfax region are currently exceeding 900 million dinars per year.

Fishing is a strategic activity for the local economy: a modern port infrastructure: 8 fishing ports providing more than 18,000 tonnes of seafood, that’s to say 18% of national production, including 10,000 tonnes exported, i.e. 60% of exports of sea products. The quantity of sea salt produced constitutes 60% of the national production.
