The international now and ever.

Loyal to its customs, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax attaches prominent place to foreign partners and to the strategic positioning of its members on the geographical international map.

Such option emanates from the conviction that the destiny of the Tunisian companies and of the national economy is firmly linked to the challenges of exportation, international partnership and abroad opening.

In actual fact, it is in this perspective that resides the different activities conducted by the CCIS this year, in particular that of launching a Master Degree in Logistics and Transport as part of an original partnership between the Chamber of Sfax and the University of Littoral Opal Coast ULCO (France) and that of organizing the second cycle of training in Mini MBA “Master of Business Administration” initiated in partnership with the American University of the State of Missouri “USA”.

Beside the training, the CCIS proceeds with its activities in supporting and coaching with the intention of brining a better understanding of the international market and of the risks of global economic development to its members.

For years, the CCIS has turned towards Africa with the unwavering conviction that this Continent constitutes an irreversible road of cooperation, a destination for both investment and development and even for ensuring a better future for one another.

In fact, the CCIS gave a vocation to its first African event (MEDIBAT). Today, it continues to do it with more determination through the creation of a new Building Trade Show in Cameron, an identical event of MEDIBAT which is AFRIBAT.

Aside from these two events, The Chamber pursues its actions and missions in the African Continent.  Consequently, we managed this year to realize an important multisectoral missions in Yaoundé (Cameron), Kinshasa (RDC) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).

From the South to the East of the continent, the CCIS perseveres in its conquest of markets, opportunities and win-win partnership with welcoming and dynamic African partners.

2018 Economic results

2018 activities: quality and diversity.

The activities rapport carried out by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax (CCIS) during the year of 2018 reflects the two great values that the Chamber leaders sustain and believe in: quality and diversity.

The quality requirement is in fact, nothing but a shared culture among the members of this institution (elected and administrative) and an ingrained essential value, from a long time ago, at the heart of the working strategy and of the program actions of the Chamber.

Actually, it is not by chance that in the word quality resides the secret for the success of the CCIS activities, of their greatness and of the confidence that it revels in among its Tunisian and foreigner partners.

The year 2018 was, in actual fact, a year full of activities, events and exploits. We can find well organized shows and events by the CCIS, ministerial and ambassadorial visits, foreign delegations that traveled to Sfax under the invitation of the Chamber, international business missions, training activities for the sake of businessmen and executives. Etc.

One of the highlights of this exercise, features the organization of the first Forum edition “Tunisia Business Export” on the month of November which transformed the city of Sfax, for the long of two days, into an export capital and international partnership and the first edition of the African Building Trade Show (AFRIBAT) organized on the month of May at Yaoundé (Cameroun). These two events were a real success and reflected the importance of export and of the African Continent in the strategic priorities of the Chamber.

For years, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax has turned towards Africa with the unwavering conviction that this Continent constitutes an irreversible road of cooperation, a destination for both investment and development and even for ensuring a better future for one another. All while organizing the export forum and of the AFRIBAT show, the CCIS staff started the preparation for the 15th edition of MEDIBAT, a particular moment due to its scale and radiation.

Apart from all these events, the Chamber managed to realize a series of business missions abroad (Ex…), and to receive delegations and high standing figures (Ex…). Moreover, the Chamber being aware of the major interest that human resources assumes for both the enterprise and on a macro-economical level, remained loyal to its policy of human capital improvement and intelligence development.

Its training service is a follow up to its efforts in  several sections of the continuous training in particular that of the master of logistics and transport which the first class graduation was in 2018.

Activity report 2019

With the current difficult economic situation, the choice to strengthen the positioning of Tunisian companies internationally is more than ever an inevitable and unavoidable choice.

The devaluation of the dinar and the blocked horizons in neighboring countries (Libya and Algeria) makes this choice of opening up to the outside a fatality and a destiny from which we cannot escape.

In this uncomfortable situation, the African market presents itself as a destination of choice and a refuge that should not be missed or disregarded.

It is a bet that is far from being isolated from its national and the orientations of the country in general. The government’s current roadmap aims to reconnect with African markets by extending the diplomatic and economic representation of Tunisia in Africa. In this context, Tunisia has joined the COMESA, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa. It also has joined CEDEAO, Economic Community of West African States as an observer member, and features since 2018 in the free area of trade.

The will of the officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax to go thoroughly and concretely in the African option is demonstrated by the organization of several activities carrying the reflection of Africa: “Africa at the heart of MEDIBAT”, “AFRICALLIA”, “AFRIBAT”, “Tuniso-Congolese Chamber”, “Tunisia Business Export”, “Made in Tunisia” all these titles, programs, projects and slogans have been dedicated by the CCIS to the African continent in the course of 2019. This is to say, in fact, the crescendo of the degree of importance of the African destination in the strategy of the Chamber and the choices of its decision-makers.

Activity report 2020

2020, The year of Covid

CCIS is always by your side!

With the persistence of the Coronavirus pandemic and its continuation for several consecutive months which do not seem to stop, adapting to this new situation becomes more than vital for our economy which has suffered the brunt of the repercussions of confinement and the new national and international health status.

As a result, the CCIS has tried to fully play its role in pursuing its mission of supporting companies, strengthening ties and maintaining contact with its members while proposing new formats for its activities.

Today the mode of management and remote management continues to impose itself as an inevitable choice to limit the damage of the scourge and set the pendulums of the economy back on time. Indeed, the CCIS was among the first economic actors to apply the “remote mode” with the launch of a series of events, distance training, Webinars and virtual meetings not only for the benefit of economic operators but also for the benefit of its staff who have sought to meet their professional responsibilities in a new way, in particular, telework!

On the other hand, the CCIS pursues its ambitions of creating projects, either of cooperation, such as the MEDSt@rts which aims to set up a support system to facilitate access to financing for young entrepreneurs, or of training, such as the Corporate University which allows candidates to obtain professional diplomas.

The year 2021 looks promising with the organization of the thirtieth anniversary of the Mediterranean Building Exhibition (MEDIBAT) from October 6 to 9, 2021 in Sfax, the 3rd edition of the African Building and Related Trades Exhibition AFRIBAT, in Yaoundé (Cameroon) and the multi-sector traveling exhibition “Made in Tunisia” in Kinshasa (DRC) in December 2021. In addition to a very interesting program to boost our relations with Libya.

We will approach the year 2021, in a positive way, by seizing the opportunities for our members. Together we will emerge stronger.

The President

Ridha Fourati
