Activity report 2019
With the current difficult economic situation, the choice to strengthen the positioning of Tunisian companies internationally is more than ever an inevitable and unavoidable choice.
The devaluation of the dinar and the blocked horizons in neighboring countries (Libya and Algeria) makes this choice of opening up to the outside a fatality and a destiny from which we cannot escape.
In this uncomfortable situation, the African market presents itself as a destination of choice and a refuge that should not be missed or disregarded.
It is a bet that is far from being isolated from its national and the orientations of the country in general. The government’s current roadmap aims to reconnect with African markets by extending the diplomatic and economic representation of Tunisia in Africa. In this context, Tunisia has joined the COMESA, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa. It also has joined CEDEAO, Economic Community of West African States as an observer member, and features since 2018 in the free area of trade.
The will of the officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax to go thoroughly and concretely in the African option is demonstrated by the organization of several activities carrying the reflection of Africa: "Africa at the heart of MEDIBAT", "AFRICALLIA", "AFRIBAT", "Tuniso-Congolese Chamber", "Tunisia Business Export", "Made in Tunisia" all these titles, programs, projects and slogans have been dedicated by the CCIS to the African continent in the course of 2019. This is to say, in fact, the crescendo of the degree of importance of the African destination in the strategy of the Chamber and the choices of its decision-makers.
